Repair A Pegasus Kitchen Faucet

Repair a Pegasus Kitchen Faucet

The Pegasus Lyndhurst bridge style two-handle kitchen faucet with corresponding side sprayer adds a distinct elegance to any kitchen with its traditional finish. Repairing the faucet will take approximately 15 to 30 minutes depending on your level of plumbing skills. Acquire your Pegasus faucet repair parts free by calling the customer service number on your Lyndhurst warranty card, or by calling your local Home Depot for assistance. Home Depot is the exclusive distributor of the Pegasus brand faucet.

Instructions

1. Shut off the stop valves under the kitchen sink. There are two small water stop valves with supply lines connecting to the hot and cold sides of the faucet. Turn the stop valve handles to the right as far as they will go; this will shut the water supply off to the faucet. Turn both faucet levers on to alleviate the remaining pressure.

2. Remove the screw caps, the small metal buttons, from on top of each handle; pop them off with your fingers. Unscrew the handle mounting screws with your screwdriver. Lift the handles off the Pegasus faucet cartridge stems.

3. Replace the faucet cartridges. Under the handles, you will see a metal nut holding the cartridges in the faucet body. With your slip joint pliers, unscrew the metal nuts. Grab the faucet cartridge's stem, and gently pull from the faucet. Clean any debris out of the faucet with a cloth rag. Install two new Pegasus Lyndhurst sink faucet cartridges and secure with the metal nuts.

4. Reinstall the handle assemblies. Set each handle on their respective stem. You may need to reposition the handles a few times to achieve the correct position. Insert and tighten the handle mounting screws, and then snap the screw caps back in place on the top of each handle.

5. Turn the water on and test for proper operation. Turn the small shut-off valve handles back on. Work the faucet handles back and forth a few times to remove any air from the supply lines and faucet. Insure the handles lineup correctly. Look for leaks around the handles and spout.

Tips Warnings

Apply a small amount of plumber's grease to the stem and handle screw for easier removal.

Do not over tighten the metal nuts, you may permanently damage the faucet.
