Nylon Net Projects

Nylon netting is used in wedding decor because it's inexpensive and versatile.

Nylon netting, or tulle, is an fabric that you can obtain at fabric stores and most craft stores. It's widely used in craft projects and wedding decor because it is inexpensive and easy to work with. Because the edges of nylon netting don't fray, there is no need to hem the fabric, which also adds to the appeal. Nylon netting works well in the production of clothes, wedding favors and other craft items.

Apparel

Create beautiful apparel using nylon netting. One common craft you can create with nylon netting is a tutu. Create a tutu by measuring the waist of the person who will be wearing it and cutting a piece of ribbon of that length, plus 10 inches excess to be used as a closure. Take strips of netting and tie them to the ribbon. You could also sew them on, if you don't want the option to move them once the tutu is completed. Use the ribbon to tie the tutu around the wearer's waist.

Christmas Decorations

You can make nylon netting into beautiful wreaths or angel Christmas ornaments. To create an angel ornament, use a wood bead as a head and yarn for hair and dress your angel in a skirt of white nylon netting. Add some glitter for a more finished look. Make a wreath by cutting the tulle into small squares, pinning the center of the squares to a Styrofoam wreath and leaving the four ends loose to form a frilly edge. Fill the wreath with these squares for a frilly wreath.

Wedding Favors Accessories

White nylon netting is an inexpensive way to decorate at a wedding. Use it to adorn flower girl baskets, dress-up pews or decorate bridesmaid bouquets. Netting in white or wedding colors can make for very easy and inexpensive favors. Just cut a square of netting, put some Jordan almonds in the middle, wrap the netting around the candy and tie with a ribbon. These favors are attractive and look beautiful in baskets at wedding receptions.

Utilitarian Objects

You can use nylon netting to create useful objects, too. Crochet nylon netting into pot scrubbers or create hair scrunchies. You can also make body puffs from about 1/4 yard of soft tulle. Cut netting into a strip about 5 inches wide. Stitch down the center of the strip, hold onto a thread at one end and pull one thread to gather the tulle into a ball. Tie a knot to form a bath puff scrub.
