Disassemble A Moen 7310

The Moen 7310, a single-handle kitchen faucet, mounts to a four-hole sink deck with 8-inch centered water-supply holes. The Moen 7310's faucet base covers the three holes grouped together and the 7310's sprayer mounts to the fourth hole, the hole set off to the side. A Moen 7310's water-supply connections fill the two outer holes in the three-hole group. The sprayer's hose connects to the Moen 7310's faucet base through the hole in between the two water-supply holes. A dripping or leaking Moen 7310 requires faucet disassembly and cartridge or O-ring replacement.

Instructions

1. Turn off the Moen 7310's water-supply valves. The valves mount to the hot- and cold-water pipes under the sink. Turn the water-supply valve's handles counterclockwise.

2. Turn on the Moen 7310 faucet until the water stops dripping from the spout, then turn off the faucet. Turning the faucet on and then off in this manner releases the water pressure in the faucet.

3. Lift the cap from the center of the handle. The cap snaps onto the handle and covers the handle's retaining screw. If the cap sticks to the handle, slip a flat screwdriver between the cap and the handle and carefully pry the cap off the handle.

4. Remove the Moen 7310 handle's retaining screw with a Phillips screwdriver. Grip the handle body with a hand and lift the handle off the faucet.

5. Unscrew the Moen 7310's pivot nut. Lift the pivot nut off the faucet. The hand-tight pivot nut holds the faucet's spout in place and keeps the handle off the spout's top.

6. Grip the spout's body with a hand, then twist and lift the spout. Remove the spout from the Moen 7310. Twisting while lifting prevents damage to the faucet's O-rings.

7. Slip a flat screwdriver between the U-shaped retaining clip and the Moen 7310's cartridge retainer, and then pry the retaining clip from the faucet. The retaining clip slides out of the slot on the side of the cartridge retainer.

8. Grip the cartridge knob's flat sides with pliers and pull the cartridge straight up.
