Uniden makes the Bearcat line of emergency scanners that you can use both in the home or in your vehicle. The Bearcat BC250 model features several different emergency frequency bands, including police, fire, ambulance and weather, to help you stay informed in case of bad weather or other disaster. You can use the controls on the front of the device to program in known emergency frequencies with just a few minutes of free time.
Instructions
1. Find the emergency frequencies you wish to program into the Bearcat scanner. You can use several methods, including searching the frequency database at RadioReference.com (see Resources). This model of scanner can save up to 1,000 different channels.
2. Press the Power button to turn the scanner on. When the display lights up, press the Menu button to access the menu for the device. Select the Scan Option by pressing the 2 button on the keypad and then pressing E.
3. Enter the channel number that you want to save the first frequency to using the number pad. Press the E button to save the channel when you are finished.
4. Press the 1 button on the next menu to select the frequency. Enter in the first frequency that you want to program from your list using the number pad. Place the decimal point in the correct place to ensure the channel will be programmed correctly. Press the E button again to save your progress.
5. Repeat Steps 2 through 4 to save the other frequencies. When finished, press the Scan button to begin searching through the programmed channels for activity on the emergency radio bands you have saved.
