Christmas is such a wonderful season of holiday cheer and decorations. But anyone who's been determined to dazzle neighbors with their holiday light extravaganza has encountered the problem of hang the Christmas lights. Smashing your thumb hammering in nails for Christmas lights can be replaced with a much less stressful method: using wire clips.
Instructions
1. Open your packages of Christmas lights and spread them out on your lawn. Make a layout as to where you will be placing the various light wires before you attempt to start hanging the Christmas lights.
2. Check the packaging to see if wire clips are included. See how many came with the package compared to the length of your light strand. You're going to need one wire clip for at least every foot of light strand, plus one for a starting point. If you didn't receive enough wire clips or didn't have any to start with, purchase your wire clips at hardware stores, home improvement stores or other locations that sell Christmas lights.
3. Choose from various types of wire clips. There are the snap-on types, which will snap or clip to your gutter or roof edging, with another clip to attach to the light strand. Another type screws or nails on. This is for the Christmas light enthusiast who plans to stay in their home a long time and hang lights for years. Nail or screw the wire clips in a location that will not take away from the appearance of the home after the lights come down.
4. Use a sturdy ladder to help you reach the heights of your home to attach the wire clips. The snap-on types can be clipped on at the same time you work your way around the home hanging the light strand. The screw-in or nail-on type is a two-part process. After you've attached all the wire clips, you'll go back and place the light strands in the wire clips.
5. Enjoy your Christmas light extravaganza. Using the wire clips makes for a much neater light display, which your friends and neighbors will envy.
