Make Holiday Place Cards

Place cards are a simple way to direct guests to their seats at a holiday meal. Handmade place cards not only add a festive and personal touch to a holiday table, but they allow you to seat guests together according to common interests, family or friends.

Instructions

1. Measure and cut one 3-inch-square piece of card stock for each place card. Fold each place card in half and make a sharp crease using a bone folder.

2. Position the folded card in front of you so that the open edge faces you. Use letter stamps to stamp each guest's name onto the place card. Start at the far right of the card with the last letter in the name and work to the beginning of the name.

3. Stamp a holiday-themed image to the left of each name. Add a Christmas tree stamp for Christmas, an egg stamp for Easter, a leaf stamp for Thanksgiving or a heart stamp for Valentine's Day, for example.

4. Punch a hole a half inch from each side of the place card near the fold. The holes should only go through the stamped front layer of the place card.

5. Cut a 6-inch length of ribbon for each place card. Thread one end of the ribbon through each hole from the inside of the card to the outside. Tie the ends in a decorative bow and trim its tails to about an inch.

Tips Warnings

Use initials if you have several guests with longer names, or use small letter stamps so the names fit on the cards.

Use ink pads in festive colors that fit the holiday: an orange ink pad for Thanksgiving or a red one for Christmas. Brown or black ink pads work for any holiday.
