Birthday Gift Ideas For A 40yearold Boyfriend

New beer glasses are another gift idea.

Your boyfriend is turning 40, so celebrate the occasion with gifts he'll remember for years to come. Take him on that trip he's always wanted or replenish his barbecue or sporting-good supplies. Gift buckets and baskets are always an option, such as a music-themed gift bucket featuring his favorite artists and concert tickets.

Fitness/Sports Theme

If your boyfriend loves to play sports or otherwise exercise or has decided that turning 40 is reason to begin an exercise regimen, try purchasing assorted workout gear. Think running shoes, pants, shirts and shorts, sweat bands, mountain or racing bike, bike helmet, water bottles and workout accessories like an iPod. Purchase a new baseball glove, football, golf club, hockey stick, cleats, basketball or other sports item depending on what he likes to play. Memberships in gyms or sports clubs are also options.

Music

Purchase a new iPod or MP3 player or make a CD-filled gift bucket based on his favorite artists. If he's been dying for a box set by his favorite band or musician add that to the bucket. You can also add other music-related items to the basket such as concert tickets, collectible memorabilia from your boyfriend's favorite artists such as mugs, sleepwear and key rings. If you have the funds, consider purchasing three or four of his favorite albums and matching concert tickets with each artist.

Food-Related Ideas

Purchase gift cards to your boyfriend's favorite restaurants, and if buying more than one gift card try going for a more ritzy dining establishment as one option and a casual outdoor dining space as another. You can also make up your own gift cards featuring his favorite dishes or special food requests he might have. If he loves to grill, try looking for new barbecue grill if possible and accessories such as aprons, mitts, tools, recipe book and favorite beer. A collection of his favorite beer or spirits is also an option.

Trips

Consider booking a trip as your gift to your boyfriend. Try to base the trip on what your boyfriend likes to do, such as a gambling excursion in Las Vegas, rock climbing in Yosemite National Park, skiing in Vermont or Colorado or hiking in the mountains of Virginia. Other options include whitewater raft trips and European tours, or look into more tropical and exotic places your boyfriend would like to travel such as islands in the Caribbean and Mediterranean or an African safari.
