Take your bulletin board from boring to decorative with a little fabric covering and a hot glue gun.
To add instant organization and decor to your home office, make a homemade thumb tack board using decorative fabric and accessories. This homemade thumb tack board will give you a place to store your important paperwork or display your favorite buttons, award certificates and photographs. Match the fabric you use to your home decorating style; this project requires no actual sewing and only minimal crafting skills. Children may help with this project, but adult supervision is required due to the heat from the glue gun.
Instructions
1. Take apart a picture or poster frame and set aside the frame. Place the cardboard or wood backing of the frame on your table on top of a rolled out sheet of cork board.
2. Cut the cork board to be the same size as the frame backing. Use hot glue to attach the cork to the frame backing. Let the glue dry.
3. Cut your fabric to be one inch wider and longer than the cork and frame backing on all sides. For instance, if your frame backing is 12 inches by 14 inches, your fabric should be 14 by 16 inches.
4. Wrap the fabric around the cork-covered frame backing and glue it in place in the back. Place the frame backing into the frame again and hang it on the wall.
5. Put your papers, photos and other items on the thumb tack board and use thumb tacks or push pins to hold them in place. The pins will stick into the cork underneath the fabric.
