Instructions On Cleaning A Commercial Bunn Coffee Maker

A clean coffee maker can produce better tasting results.

For many early-risers, the day doesn't really begin until after the first cup of coffee. The Bunn company producers a number of coffee makers to help begin the waking-up process, but unless the makers are properly cleaned, coffee can come out tasting stale or gritty. Cleaning a Bunn coffee maker regularly can keep coffee tasting great and extend the life of the maker by preventing mineral buildup. Most Bunn makers come with the tools needed for a full-scale cleaning.

Instructions

1. Unplug the Bunn coffee maker; make sure the water and surface of the maker are cool before beginning the cleaning process.

2. Rinse the filter or funnel and decanter in warm water; wipe these down with a mild dish detergent to remove stains. Set them aside to dry as you continue.

3. Unscrew the spray head of the coffee maker with your fingers; this is the area from which the coffee pours to enter the decanter. The small piece should come away with a few turns. Set this piece aside in a safe place.

4. Hold the de-liming spring by one end and insert the other end into the hole left beyond by the spray head. This spring is included with the Bunn coffee maker; if you don't have one, replace with a toothpick or straw.

5. Scrub the interior of the spray head area with the de-liming spring. Remove any visible mineral deposits from the area around the spray head, and within the spray head itself.

6. Rinse the spray head under warm water and reinstall it to the coffee maker.

7. Dampen a soft cloth with warm water and gently wipe down the outside of the coffee maker, including the hot plate. If necessary, use a mild dish detergent to clean the outside of the coffee maker.

Tips Warnings

The filter/funnel and decanter are safe to wash in the dishwasher, as long as you keep them on the top shelf.

If you have a large Bunn coffee maker that features a faucet, lid or other accessory, remove these pieces and rinse them under warm water or clean them with dish soap.
