Hotpoint oven igniter replacement

Hotpoint oven igniter replacement

How difficult is it to replace the igniter on a Hotpoint oven? I have opened it up. I can see the igniter and the wires which go down into the floor plate. But I gave no schematic so I don't know where the wires got to. Do I connect them from underneath? If so, do I have to jack up the whole oven to be able to connect the wires? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks. GE/Hotpoint igniters are of two types, the plug in type and the pigtail type. The pigtails and plugs are usually only about 3 or so inches from the igniter, so you should be able to see it. Take the igniter loose, and pull up or out until you see the plug or pigtail nuts. Either plug the new one in , or twist the leads and install the provided caps on the wires, and reinstall the igniter. Let us know if that works. Everything worked fine. Thanks, Chandler. This group is the greatest boon to the do-it-yourselfer. I have never been led astray. Responses are lightning fast.
