Cosmetic Procedures For Fuller Lips

Lip augmentation is a procedure that fills, plumps or puts implants into lips, making them fuller. Procedures performed to plump lips include fat transfer, synthetic implants and collagen injections.

Fat Transfer

Fat transfers occur when fat is removed from the patient's body and injected into the lips. The risks are greater than with other treatments, but results may last longer.

Lip Implants

Lip implants involve putting synthetic objects into the lips. Small incisions are made at the corners of the mouth and implants are inserted through needles. Results can last up to 12 months.

Collagen Injections

Bovine or human-based collagen fillers are injected into the lips for a plumping effect. Collagen injections last between three and four months.

Risks

There may be some bleeding or leaking from the injection site, but risk for allergy or rejection is low in most lip-plumping procedures.

Recovery

The recovery time for lip injections is usually a few days but recovery from lip implants can take up to two weeks.
