Treat Gum Disease (Gingivitis) Naturally With Herbal Remedies 2

Natural Remedies: Treat Gum Disease (Gingivitis) Naturally with Herbal Remedies

Gum disease, or gingivitis, is caused by bacteria between the tooth and gum that form a substance called plaque. Plaque causes inflammation of the gums and separation of the gums from the teeth, eventually resulting in loss of teeth. Symptoms of gingivitis are red, bleeding and swollen gums. Healthy gums are pink in color and do not bleed excessively when cleaned.

Instructions

1. Gargle a saline solution salt (salt & water) every day is an old fashioned remedy for gingivitis as well as a preventive measure.

2. Use bloodroot in your herbal home remedies. It is a perennial flowering plant native to the United States. The FDA has approved the used of this herb as an ingredient for oral rinses and toothpastes to stop the development of oral plaque.

3. Prepare an herbal toothpaste for plaque, and spongy gums. Here's how: mix one tsp each of kava root powder and myrrh gum powder with ½ tsp of white oak bark tincture and five drops of essential oil into a paste. Use paste to brush.

4. Dilute some neem oil in water and use this as an herbal gargle. Neem oil comes from a tropical evergreen tree and is known for its anti-bacterial properties. For gingivitis, gargling with a solution of neem leaf extract and water is recommended.

5. Add Omega 3 Fatty Acid to your diet. We have heard of the benefits of omega 3 fatty acids in treating heart disease. This oil that comes from fish is also used to treat gingivitis.
