Prevent The Need For Root Canal

Prevent the Need for Root Canal

You would be hard-pressed to find a person who enjoys having a root canal. Although sometimes necessary, root canals can be both painful and expensive. There are some simple measures that you can take to help prevent the need for a root canal.

Instructions

1. Know that one of the best preventions against the need for a root canal is simply taking good care of your teeth and gums. Brush your teeth regularly (at least twice each day) and remember to floss.

2. Floss in the evening before you go to bed if you only have time to floss once a day. Acidic plaque builds up and eats at the enamel that protects your teeth. If plaque is left indefinitely, it will begin to corrode the interior of your teeth. This can lead to the eventual need for a root canal.

3. Prevent the need for a root canal by supplementing your diet with vitamin C. The mouth is full of bacteria along with the plaque that forms. Studies have shown that people who take vitamin C regularly have much less tarter, plaque and bacteria in their mouths than people who only brush their teeth. Vitamin C helps prevent infection that can lead to abscesses and the need for a root canal.

4. Drink green tea to help prevent the need for a root canal. Green tea is a great preventive medicine because it contains the type of bioflavonoids that can help fight off both gum disease and tooth decay. The benefits of green tea for a healthy mouth have been known in Japan for centuries. Some experts believe that taking an extract of green tea leaves works even better than drinking it.

5. Eat certain foods that actually help to clean the plaque from your teeth. These foods include nuts (especially cashews), olives and yogurt. When you eat sweets, brush your teeth soon afterward in order to help prevent the need for a root canal.
