Use A Sauna & Steam Room To Lose Weight

Many people think that saunas are just a form of spa exfoliation and a way to relieve stress. Saunas and steam rooms also can be an effective way to lose excess fluid weight and rid the body of toxins.

Instructions

1. Set up a visit to a sauna and meet with a member of the staff to discuss your weight loss goals. Many places will have special packages designed for this purpose.

2. A twice-per-week visit is typically sufficient for beginners. Schedule sessions for 30 minutes a day. Excess time will not necessarily cause more weight loss, but it will cause greater dehydration.

3. Since the body is becoming dehydrated, you should drink plenty of water before and after each session to prevent serious heatstroke or fainting. Two cups of water before and after should be sufficient.

4. A temperature of 150 degrees Fahrenheit will be more than adequate for your sessions; the temperature may be increased over time if need be. The sauna causes fluid loss--therefore, once water is consumed, the result is fluid gain, which is necessary to prevent dehydration. Any weight loss achieved through dehydration in which electrolytes and water are not replenished is not safe.

5. Those with heart conditions or the elderly may wish to consult with a physician before engaging in steam treatments. Also, since saunas only result in fluid loss, it is important to remember that a healthy diet and exercise program will help forward your progress in losing weight.
