Use Bergamot Essential Oil

Use Bergamot Essential Oil

Bergamot, native to Italy and named after the Italian city of Bergamo, was traditionally used for its scent. As bergamot perfumes gained popularity, it was carried to China, where it's multiple healing properties were fully explored. Today, bergamot essential oil is used in a number of natural remedies that you can easily employ in your own home.

Instructions

1. Place a few drops of bergamot essential oil in a diffuser to create an uplifting, citrus and slightly floral aroma. Bergamot essential oil is used in aroma therapy to help ease stress, anxiety, depression and even to help increase appetite.

2. Mix a few drops of bergamot essential oil into your body lotions or massage oils, helping to relieve muscle tension and inflammation. Add just 1 to 2 drops at a time, mixing well and testing the aroma until you reach your desired strength.

3. Create your own acne or problem skin solutions by mixing one part bergamot with 5 parts aloe vera gel. Because bergamot is naturally antiseptic and anti-fungal, it can be used on acne, athlete's foot, eczema, fungal skin infections and more. Apply the solution twice a day, diluting further if you experience any skin irritation.

4. Get the healing and aromatic benefits of bergamot any time you like by adding 5 drops of the essential oil to a warm bath and soaking. An aromatic sitz bath can be used to help relieve mental and physical tension or to soothe skin conditions.

5. Use bergamot essential oils as part of your personal perfume recipes. Bergamot blends well with most oils, including lavender, sandalwood, mint and frankincense.
