Homemade Detox Bath

Hydrotherapy is the use of water for treating ailments or disease. Using this method, the body is able to recuperate and heal itself. The process in which the body rids itself of unwanted waste matter is called detoxification. The body's reaction to heat and water pressure can be very instrumental in stimulating the immune system, reducing stress hormones, encouraging circulation and digestion and lessening muscular spasms. Using inexpensive ingredients, you can detoxify at home.

Basic Epsom Salt Detox Bath

Epsom salt is composed of sulfate and magnesium. Both of these ingredients help rid the body of toxins. Sulfate helps eliminate food and environmental chemicals, along with reducing levels of hormones such as estrogen. Magnesium, sometimes an overlooked mineral, is needed for cellular energy and cellular cleansing. Magnesium depletion can be caused by stress, processed food or a diet rich in fat and sugar. Add one or two cups of Epsom salt to tub of hot water. However, don't make it too hot if you're prone to heart problems, have high or low blood pressure or are diabetic. Soak for at least 15 to 20 minutes and be prepared to perspire profusely while you rid yourself of toxins. Afterward, you should rest for three hours or all night and make sure you are thoroughly covered. While you sleep, you'll also be eliminating toxins. It's important to drink plenty of water afterward to replace fluid lost from perspiration. Additionally, the sulfate absorbed into your skin will help you to eliminate more toxins and help you feel great.

Bentonite and Bladderwrack Detox Bath

Uncle Harry's Detox Bath consists of Bentonite clay, a substance known for extracting negative toxins from the body (such as heavy metals, pesticides and free radicals), sea salt and powdered Bladderwrack, sea kelp rich in iron. These three ingredients form a powerful detoxification bath for the body. Add one cup of the detox powder to a tub full of water and you will see the electromagnetic properties in action. The particles will expand into surfaces, allowing them to pick up large quantities and different types of toxins. The "negative" charge from the Bentonite clay, in particular, acts like magnet to many of these "positive" charged toxins, absorbing them into the rough surface of the clay. Soon, you'll begin to perspire. Soak for 15 to 20 minutes. For a deeper effect, wrap a towel around your head and torso and sit on the side of the tub while immersing your legs in the water. This will increase perspiration and speed up the elimination of the toxins. If you have heart problems or high blood pressure, make sure to use warm water instead of hot.
