Use A Storebrand Vaporizer

A vaporizer, usually made of plastic, expels vapor (or a mist of water) into the air. Vaporizers can be used to help moisturize the throat and nasal passages, which is especially helpful in easing discomfort during colds (nasal congestion or a sore throat) and during the winter (when the air is very dry). You can reap the most benefits by finding out use a storebrand vaporizer.

Instructions

1. Purchase a storebrand vaporizer, which can be bought at many drugstores, made by the store that sells it. You can buy storebrand vaporizers at drugstores such as Rite Aid, CVS and Walgreens. Storebrand vaporizers are less expensive than name-brand vaporizers (and humidifiers) but still add moisture to the air effectively.

2. Take the vaporizer out of the box and read the instructions thoroughly, from beginning to end.

3. Rinse out the vaporizer with clean water. Dry the inside.

4. Fill the vaporizer to the recommended water level, according to the instructions. Use distilled water. Tap water or even spring water often contains minerals, which can coat the metal parts inside the vaporizer, causing the vaporizer to work less efficiently or not work at all. Distilled water will keep the vaporizer running smoothly.

5. Put the top portion into the bottom part of the vaporizer and plug it in. The vaporizer does not have an on/off switch. It will automatically begin working once it is plugged in, as long as there is water present.

6. Ensure the vaporizer is in a good location where you can experience the benefits. Keep it on a flat, steady surface away from other objects. Put it in the room where you need it the most.

7. Unplug the vaporizer either when you're done using it or when the water runs very low. Many vaporizers automatically shut off when the water runs out. To be safe, however, check this on the vaporizer instructions and unplug the vaporizer when not in use.
