Signs Of A Sexual Disease

Many signs and symptoms are associated with a sexually transmitted disease (STD), although sometimes people don't experience any symptoms and don't even know they have an STD. The best way to prevent a sexual disease is to wear a condom during intercourse.

Itching

A common symptom of an STD is itching in the genital area. Itching is a common symptom of crabs (pubic lice).

Burning Sensation

A burning sensation during urination could be a symptom of a more serious STD. Burning could be associated with a urinary tract infection (especially in women), so see a doctor for a correct diagnosis.

Lumps or Sores

Lumps or sores in the genital area could be a symptom of genital warts (human papillomavirus) or genital herpes. Genital warts and herpes can be treated with the help of prescription medication.

Discharge

In women, a foul-smelling discharge (fishy-smelling) is another possible symptom of an STD. A bad-smelling discharge is usually associated with trichomonas and gonorrhea.

Warning

If you are experiencing the above symptoms, immediately consult a doctor. If left untreated, sexually transmitted diseases can cause permanent damage, especially in the female reproductive organs.
