Deal With Feeling Ugly

Learning to deal with self-esteem issues is a hard and difficult process. Feeling ugly is more common than you may realize. Feeling ugly may be a sign of depression. Taking care of yourself and changing your routines may be beneficial in dealing with the depression of feeling ugly. Here are guidelines for changing your view of yourself.

Instructions

1. Realize that even beautiful people think they are ugly. Self-esteem issues plague even the most admired, sought-after people in our society. Just because you feel ugly doesn't mean you are or that others perceive you that way.

2. Learn to smile. Learn to laugh. Let your inner beauty bubble up from the inside. A person who is smiling and happy appears much more attractive.

3. Do things for yourself, such as dressing nicely, wearing makeup, doing your hair and taking care of yourself. These simple acts attract attention from other people and help you gain self-confidence. Do things that make you feel good about yourself.

4. Exercise regularly. Exercise helps you get in shape and get a better body image. Exercise also reduces stress, high blood pressure and makes you feel good about yourself. When you feel better physically, you will start feeling better about yourself mentally.

5. Try something new. Get a new haircut, a new wardrobe or a new manicure. Do things that make you feel good about yourself. Trying new things can give you a new outlook on your life and your looks.

6. Consult your doctor if you still feel ugly or depressed. You could be suffering from clinical depression. Your doctor can suggest treatments to improve your self-image and fight your depression.
