Purchase A Night Guard

There are several theories as to why people grind their teeth; some feel those who grind their teeth have the tendency to regularly display negative emotions. Moreover, these negative emotions cause a person to grind their teeth together with such force it causes permanent damage. Look into purchasing a night guard to prevent damage.

Instructions

Purchase a Night Guard

1. Make an appointment. Once you have your appointment with your doctor, an exact impression of your teeth is prepared; this will include upper and lower teeth. The purpose of this is to establish a bite record of your teeth to make your night guard.

2. Get fitted. Fitted to your mouth from your impressions is a thin transparent plastic appliance that resembles a retainer. This will ensure good tooth alignment giving you a great bite.

3. Get adjusted. Have any necessary adjustments made to your new appliance. These adjustments are necessary to prevent your top and bottom teeth from interlocking together. Your new night guard absorbs the force of the grinding protecting your teeth.

4. Take care of your night guard. Before and after each wear rinse off your night guard. Daily brush it with toothpaste or liquid soap. Soak your night guard once a week in denture clean. Visit your doctor twice a year.

5. Purchase over the counter. You can also purchase night guards from over the counter. However, the fit may not be suited to all wearers. Those of you that wear braces will especially have to be very careful when purchasing over the counter. Having braces on makes it very difficult to buy off the shelf and get a fit that will work.
