Treat Vascular Hypertension With Acupuncture


The practice of acupuncture is more than 2,500 years old, although the specific treatment of hypertension with acupuncture is relatively new to Traditional Chinese Medicine, being practiced only since the beginning of the 20th century. It generally consists of two parts: treatment of the high blood pressure and treatment of the whole patient. The following steps will show treat vascular hypertension with acupuncture.


Instructions


1. Lower elevated blood pressure by stimulating certain acupoints with needles. The acupoints commonly chosen include Fengchi (GB2O), Hegu (LI4), Renying (ST9), Shaohai (HT3), Shaoshang (LUll), Taichong (LR3) and Zusanli.


2. Treat the patient as a whole by analyzing the specific hypertension syndrome based on symptoms, including the pulse and tongue appearance. An appropriate method is then devised for each of the four hypertension syndromes.








3. Reduce the liver yang in cases of liver-yang syndrome. This syndrome is characterized by a bitter taste in the mouth, dizziness, flushing in the face, headaches, a red tongue with a yellow coating, restlessness and a taut, vigorous pulse.


4. Increase the yin and reduce the yang in cases of insufficient liver yin. This syndrome is marked by amnesia, headaches, dizziness, dry mouth, a hot feeling in the palms and soles, palpitations, restlessness, sleeplessness, tinnitus and a thin, rapid pulse.


5. Supplement the yin of the kidney and liver for symptoms that include dry, uncomfortable eyes, a hot feeling in the palms and soles, tinninus, weakness in the waist and legs, sleeplessness, a red dry tongue and a thin, taut pulse.
