Treat Chigger Bites


Chiggers are tiny mites that cling to your skin from tall grass and weeds. Their bites cause redness and itching. You can take some over-the-counter treatment to get relief from the itching sensation and redness of skin. Here is treat chigger bites.


Instructions


1. Keep the chigger bitten area of your body clean by washing it with water and soap frequently.


2. Avoid scratching of the affected area your skin with nails. Such rubbing can further damage your skin. Note that the itching and redness from chigger bites can last up to two weeks.


3. Apply creams containing hydrocortisone, antihistamine or calamine lotion to reduce itching.


4. Use anti-lice shampoo on the affected area and leave it overnight.


5. Fill a tub with colloidal oatmeal and soak the affected skin in it. Alternatively, soak a cloth in this solution and apply it on the chigger bitten area of your body.


6. Smear petroleum jelly over chigger bites. You may get varying degree of success with this treatment.


7. Consult your physician in case the itching and redness does not disappear.
