Bleach Teeth Safely

Do you want a whiter and brighter smile? If so, it is definitely possible to have beautiful teeth and a nice smile too. Many people choose to bleach their teeth in order to make their teeth look whiter. Some people visit their dentist for professional bleaching, while others prefer to whiten their teeth at home. It is very safe to bleach your teeth, but you must be sure to do it correctly and follow the proper guidelines and procedures. There are a few things that you can do to bleach your teeth safely and have whiter teeth.

Instructions

1. Visit your dentist for a check-up. Before you actually bleach your teeth, you should have your dentist examine them and also look at your gums. Your dentist can check and see if you have any dental issues that may need to be addressed first (such as gum disease or cavities) and let you know whether or not it is OK to bleach your teeth.

2. Discuss your options with the dentist. Based on your current needs and the condition of your teeth, your dentist can recommend an appropriate bleaching method for you to use. There is the in-office professional bleaching system which is used by dentists, over-the counter bleaching products (such as tray whitening kits) and other whitening products like whitening strips, paint-on whiteners, and whitening toothpastes. With the in-office bleaching method, the dentist may use a special light or laser along with the bleaching gel, to enhance the whitening process.

3. Weigh out the pros and cons for the different bleaching methods. For instance, the in-office bleaching system is the most expensive option, but it provides you with dental supervision and the process is a lot faster (usually an hour, but you may need additional office visits). Using an over-the-counter bleaching kit gives you more flexibility because you do not have to schedule any dental appointments and everything is done at home. However, you may cause damage to your teeth and gums if you bleach your teeth too often or if you do not follow all of the directions.

4. Decide if you want to use one of the other types of over-the-counter whitening products to bleach your teeth. You may choose to use a product like Crest Whitestrips to whiten your teeth. You can use this product in the comfort of your home and you may begin to see satisfactory results in as little as two weeks. However, the paint-on whitening products may not produce the same results as the whitening strips and whitening toothpastes take a lot longer to achieve results and they normally only work on mild stains.

5. Schedule your next dental appointment or purchase the necessary items to safely bleach your teeth at home. If you choose to let your dentist bleach your teeth, then she informs you when you need to return for your next office visit and what to expect during the process. If you are going to bleach your teeth at home, then your dentist may recommend the best over-the-counter product for you to use on your teeth. Be sure to read the directions before using the whitening product and call your doctor if you have any problems or concerns.
