Chakra is an oriental philosophy and spiritual guidance involving energies of the body. It is separated into seven different regions or chakras; crown, brow, throat, heart, solar, spleen, and root. Each of these chakras has a different overall guidance or purpose, as well as individual properties within them.Every so often these chakras need to be cleaned or cleansed. Just as with a car, without the periodic cleanings, “gunk” will build up and the image will be less than ideal. While each person’s ways can vary, below you will find the basic steps to cleansing your chakra.

Getting Started
1. Gather the desired gemstones associated with the chakra that you want to work with. The gemstone should go with not only the attribute that you want to focus on but also with whether you want to open or subdue that quality.
2. Place the gemstone in the energy center for the chakra you plan to work with. Each chakra not only has a meaning, but also a place in the body where the energy comes from. Placing the gemstone in that spot, brings the most power to the table, so to speak.
3. Cleanse your mind and clear all personal energy into the ground. This prepares your mind for the task at hand, prepares your body for the changes that will be taking place and gives a "blank slate" for the chakra to work with.
4. If you want to open up the attribute, draw energy in through the gemstone. This brings in the wanted properties, fusing them with your chakra.
5. If you want to subdue the attribute, push energy out through the gemstone. This will cleanse the chakra, removing the unwanted energy from yourself.
6. Cleanse and store your gemstones. This is the most important of all the steps. Cleansing of the gemstone can be as simple as a salt water washing, incense smoke, and/or leaving it in the light of a full moon. This way, any negative energies are not trapped in the stone, leaving it fresh for the next use. Storing them is also important, not only so they are not forgotten but also so they remain free of negative energy.
