Use Nitrate Patches

There are plenty of new, different and alternative treatments on the market today, but one of the ones that can make a difference are nitrate patches. Nitrate patches are most commonly used in the treatment of tendon injuries, such as Achilles Tendinopathy, and more commonly, chest pain. Nitrate patches work by opening the arteries that lead to the heart, thereby increasing blood flow to the heart so that it can work more efficiently.

Instructions

1. Before any use of nitrate patches on your body it's best to consult your primary doctor. He or she will be able to tell you whether they think that nitrate patches should be used. If you can use them then a prescription will be written for the nitrate patches.

2. Once you receive the nitrate patches they then should be placed on the body in the appropriate spot and position. For example, one nitrate patch that is full of 5 milligrams of nitroglycerin should be kept on the body for approximately 12 to 14 hours per day.

3. There are some side effects to the nitrate patch, however. Some people experience painful headaches, and if these or any other worse symptoms are felt then your doctor should be called. There are some brands of nitrate patches that may be able to be cut if a lower dose is needed, but your physician should be consulted beforehand. On the other hand, the dose also may need to be increased due to your body's tolerance of the drug. In any case, any lowering or raising of the nitrate patch dose should be done through your primary doctor.

4. If symptoms of your chest pain or tendon injury or pain do not seem to be getting better after 8 to 10 weeks of the treatment then you should stop using the nitrate patches or consult your physician for further instructions of what to do. The dose of the nitrate patch may need to be further adjusted, or ceased altogether.
