Overcome Tiredness

A typical day for you?

We all get tired but for some of us it seems to be a daily battle. Here are a few tips to help you overcome the slumps of an average day.

Instructions

1. Use white noise while you sleep. White noise helps the body go through natural sleep cycles. White noise helps to drown out external noise and sound that may disrupt your sleep. Create white noise by turning a fan on while you sleep or playing classical music on low volume.

2. Talk to someone who's in an upbeat mood. Studies show that moods are contagious, so if you're feeling an afternoon slump, go speak to a perky co-worker.

3. Chill out while sleeping. Sleeping in a cold room helps your body achieve deeper sleep. Getting deeper, more restful sleep will help stave off tiredness during the day. Ample room temperature for sleeping should be between 65 - 68 degrees.

4. Stop and smell the limes. A citrus scent like lime helps overcome a tired feeling by increasing the production of norepinephrine, an energizing compound released in the brain.

5. Eat high fiber snacks. Fiber helps regulate blood sugar because it digests and releases sugar slowly. Controlling blood sugar levels can help keep you on a even kiel during the day.

6. Do puzzles. A quick crossword or word search puzzle helps reduce anxiety by causing you to focus on something fun for a few minutes and therefore breaking the tiredness slump.

7. Exercise. It's a well known fact that moderate exercise done several times a week will help you get more restful sleep and stabalize your energy. Get moving!

8. Stay hydrated. Water is the essence of life. If our body is not properly hydrated it can not function at its optimal level. Drink at least 64 ounces (half gallon) of water each day. The brain is mostly water and needs it the most. Keep your brain healthy and sluggish feelings at bay by staying hydrated.
