Relax Your Lower Back







Most lower back pain is caused by a combination of strain, overuse, or injury to the muscles, ligaments, and discs that support the spine. Relaxing your lower back can help avoid this problem.Lower back pain will effect almost everyone at some point in their lives. Both men and women are effected equally by lower back pain but usually for different reasons. Men tend to injure themselves at work or activities, while woman will have lower back pain more often from stress, weaker stomach muscles or from carrying and caring for children. You can help to prevent lower back pain by relaxing your back with a simple stretch--especially after exercise or strenuous activity when the back tends to tighten up.


Instructions


1. "Pretzel sit" on the floor with your right leg over your left leg (once referred to as sitting "Indian style").








2. Lay your arms out in front of you, relax and drop your head while slowly letting your weight pull you forward.


3. Relax and breathe while holding for a few minutes.


4. Switch legs and repeat.
