Check For Progesterone Deficiency

Progesterone is a hormone that is essential to a healthy hormonal balance. Women who are deficient in progesterone may have many side effects such as bone loss, emotional changes, unstable blood glucose levels, thinning of scalp hair and facial hair growth. Once a condition is diagnosed, treatment can be utilized. Diet changes and other lifestyle modifications may be among the small steps toward better health.

Instructions

1. Assess your symptoms. The first step to diagnose any medical condition or deficiency often begins when an individual notices changes in her body, or has suspicions about the way she feels. Taking stock of the situation starts by assessing the symptoms. Write them down, or keep a daily journal.

2. Log on to a website that offers free tests for evaluation of your symptoms. See "Resources" for examples and information.

3. Refer to the journal of symptoms you may have prepared in order to review the recorded symptoms, and achieve the most accurate answers.

4. Answer all the questions by filling in the closest answers that apply. Options may include rating your symptoms using the words: mild, moderate or severe, as measuring guides.

5. Finish the evaluation, and review the answers. Make an appointment with your doctor if you feel you have adequately assessed your symptoms, and may have an underlying condition.
