Zero Fat Diet Foods

In order to lose weight, it is important to cut back on the total number of calories consumed. Since there are nine calories in one gram of fa,t a low fat diet makes sense. And while it is necessary to have some fat in our diet, adding zero fat diet foods is a good way to reduce overall fat intake.

Healthy Choices

Most fruits and vegetables are virtually fat free which makes them a good choice for a low fat diet. Most fat free dairy products are good sources of calcium and protein. Beans have very small amounts of fat and are a good source of protein and fiber.

Fat Free Cooking

Fat can be eliminated in many recipes by using different cooking methods. Using fat free cooking spray in place of oil and removing the skin from poultry are two ways to eliminate fat from recipes.

Fat Free Baking

Replacing most of the fat in baked goods with applesauce and using egg whites in place of whole eggs is a good way to reduce or eliminate the total amount of fat and calories. Two egg whites or 1/4 cup liquid egg replacement can be substituted for one large egg. According to Slashfood.com it is important to use a small amount of fat in baked goods to prevent the final product from becoming unpleasantly dense and chewy.

Fat Free Flavor Enhancers

Mustard, horseradish and vinegar are flavor enhancers that are virtually fat and calorie free. Using herbs and spices add flavor to recipes without adding fat.

Zero Fat Diet Foods Are Not Always Low Calorie

Beware of prepackaged foods that are labeled fat free. Prepackaged foods such as cookies also contain large amounts of sugar.
