Different Types Of Diffusion

About Different Types of Diffusion

Diffusing therapeutic oils into a room has been done for centuries. The fresh scent of lavender, eucalyptus, lemon, sandalwood and patchouli can be healing and relaxing. There are a number of methods to quickly diffuse various healing scents into your space, with simple things around the house or purchasing some of the diffusers on the retail market.

Home Methods

One of the simplest ways to quickly diffuse the scent of essential oils is to place a few drops on a tissue and place it near the space you are occupying such as a desk, chair or bed. The scent will not be overpowering and will last a short time. You can replenish the oil on the tissue as needed. Another easy home method of diffusion is to simply light a candle and let it burn about five minutes. Extinguish the candle and add a few drops of oil to the melted wax. Relight the candle and breath in the lovely scent. Boil a mug of water in the microwave. Add 5 to 6 drops of oil into the hot water and the steam will cause the oils to diffuse into the room.

Natural Products

One of the newest diffusion products that has soared in popularity are diffusion reeds. Sold in a package containing approximately a dozen thin wooden reeds, a small glass vase and a bottle of aromatherapy oil of varying scents. You pour the oil into the vase and then add the reeds. The wooden reeds soak the oil and release the scent into the air. Flip the sticks over occasionally to refresh the scent. In many shops, you can also find small clay pots for diffusion. Uncork the pot and add your essential oil and the scent will fill your room through the pores of the clay. Tea light diffusers are also inexpensive and popular. A small saucer holds your oil while a lit candle below heats the oil, thus dispersing it into the room.

Lamp Rings

Lamp rings are a great way to diffuse a scent quickly into a room. Lamp rings are typically made from metal or ceramic in a circular shape with curved sides to hold oil. There are also some made from fiberboard. Place the ring over the top of your light bulb and the warmth of the bulb will diffuse your essential oils into the air.

Oils

For energizing aromatherapy, use uplifting scents such as grapefruit, lime, orange, lemon, peppermint and rosemary.

Rose and lavender are best for relaxation and sleep. Eucalyptus is great for head colds.

More Diffusers

Fan diffusers are another method of spreading your favorite scent in a room. Pour your oil in an absorbent pad or tray. Then, place the pad or tray into your unit and the fan will blow the scent of the oil throughout the room. These come in a variety of sizes to accommodate both small and larger rooms. Car diffusers plug right into the cigarette lighter or phone charger and warm the oil which has been dropped onto a small absorbent pad. This is a nice way to freshen your car. Basil or rosemary oils will help keep your focus.
