The Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is responsible for warts that occur on the body. Warts often form on the face, and can occur on the soft area of the lips in particular. They are often embarrassing and difficult to conceal. Here are some tips for remove a wart from a lip.
Instructions
1. Keep the area clean. In order to more easily remove the wart, you might soften the area by applying a warm moist washcloth to the affected area for a few minutes.
2. Apply an over-the-counter wart remover for visible warts. Wart removers come in liquid, patch and freezing methods. Freezing the wart may require several applications and might need to be followed with a liquid wart remover that contains salicylic acid. If this does not work, consider the next treatment.
3. Try the prescription medications podophyllin, trichloracetic acid (TCA) or bichloroacetic acid (BCA). These medications are applied topically to the wart. Do not get any medication on the surrounding skin during application and remove with soap and water after four hours or less. If these medications are ineffective, it may be necessary to have the wart frozen off.
4. Consider cryotherapy that is performed in a doctor's office. Cryotherapy is a process in which the doctor freezes the wart with liquid nitrogen. It may have to be performed multiple times to be completely effective. If the wart is resistant to the above methods, try surgery.
5. Get laser incision or electrocautery. These methods can be done in a doctor's office and ensure complete wart removal, however, there may be some damage to underlying tissue that could result in scars forming. Use this method as a last resort.
