Icy Hot is used to help a person treat a variety of minor aches and pains that they might have around joints or muscles. These pains could include backaches, sprains or arthritis. The product works by causing the skin to cool down and then heat up. This allows a person to treat the injuries by stimulating them and then relaxing them. Although Icy Hot is generally safe, there are some side effects that could occur, such as stinging, burning and redness. If any of these side effects occur, a person should cease using Icy Hot.
Instructions
1. Be sure that the Icy Hot is being applied to the proper place. Icy Hot should not be applied near the nose, mouth or eyes. Do not touch these areas of the body when Icy Hot is on the hands. If Icy Hot does get into one of these areas, the body part should be flushed with water.
2. Use the fingers to apply and rub in a thin layer of Icy Hot to the area in pain about three or four times a day. Hands need to be washed immediately after using the medication to make sure that the Icy Hot does not inadvertently spread to other places on the body from touching.
3. Do not place Icy Hot on areas of the skin that are irritated. This means that it should not go on cuts, sunburns or scrapes. If applying Icy Hot to an area near a scrape or burn, simply apply around the irritated area, but not in it.
4. Apply the meditation only when the Icy Hot is at a normal temperature. Icy Hot should not be applied during times when the skin is hot. For example, if a person has just finished some heavy exercise or has just bathed in hot water, the Icy Hot should not be applied until the skin has cooled off.
5. Do not continue to use the Icy Hot after seven days. Icy Hot is meant to be used as a temporary relief -- not a permanent fix.
