What Are The Causes Of Yeast Infections In Toddler Girls

Yeast is fungus that is naturally found on the human body. When too much yeast grows, a yeast infection can occur. Yeast infections are caused by a variety of reasons and they are easy to treat. It is important to note that women are not the only ones who get yeast infections. Men and children (such as toddler girls) can also get yeast infections.

Antibitoics and Children

When a child takes antibiotics, healthy bacteria may be killed and too much yeast may begin to grow.

Antibiotics and Mothers

When a nursing mother takes antibiotics, her child may develop a yeast infection. This can happen if too much of the child's healthy bacteria is killed and too much yeast beings to grow.

Diaper Rash

A child may develop a yeast infection if they have diaper rash, because yeast thrive in warm and moist environments.

Common Child Yeast Infections

In children, the most common yeast infections occur in the mouth or genitals.

Tight Undergarments

Undergarments which are too tight can cause the genital area to become warm and moist, sometimes resulting in yeast infections.

Treatment

Anti-fungal topical creams work well to treat genital yeast infections. Oral yeast infections can be treated with prescription medication.

Pediatrician

A pediatrician should be seen if a child's yeast infection does not seem to be clearing up within a couple of days. Also, a pediatrician should been seen to accurately diagnose a child's yeast infection.
