Fall Into A Deep Sleep

Follow these steps, and you'll be sleeping like a baby!

You've probably heard that you need eight hours of sleep a night to be healthy. However, if those eight hours are filled with light and restless sleep, it will probably be the equivalent of only a couple of hours. You need to fall into a deep sleep, and these steps will help you reach that goal.

Instructions

1. Practice deep breathing. Deep breathing will relax your entire body and slow down your heart rate. About half an hour before you go to bed, stop your activity and just sit or lie down. Then, breathe slowly and deeply. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.

2. Think about something funny. Laughter releases endorphins in your system, making you feel less stressed when you go to sleep. Read a joke book, or watch something funny like The Daily Show.

3. As you lie in bed, begin counting backwards from 99 to 1. Gently push any other thoughts out of your head and just focus on the numbers. If you lose track of where you were, just pick up from the last number you remember counting. If you get down to 1, you can start over from 99.
