Diagnose A Ring Rash On The Face

Diagnosing ring rash or ringworm isn't difficult. The infection gets it name from round rings of redness that appear on different parts of the body. While you can cure most cases using over the counter medications, if symptoms persist for at least two weeks, then you should seek medical attention. Those who are in contact with large groups of people are at risk of passing it on to others.

Instructions

Diagnose a Ring Rash on the Face

1. Take a close look at the rash. You will notice small or large rings on your face or other parts of your body. These rings surround healthy skin. Ring rash is caused by a fungus and you can treat it using medications found at your local drug store.

2. Other symptoms of ring rash include raised rings around healthy skin or flat patches of skin. Many times ring rash will itch.

3. If you are contact with others who have ring rash, then your chances of developing it are increased. Possible places for infection include locker rooms, schools, hospitals and buildings with little ventilation.

4. Monitor your health. If, during treatment, you develop a high fever or persistent headache, you should visit your physician for further testing.

5. Once a diagnosis has been made, you should keep the areas infested clean. Take medication such as Chotrimazole, Miconazale or Terbinafine. These medications can be purchased at your local drug store. Consult a physician if additional medication will be needed.
