Prepare Comfrey Tea

Comfrey has softening effects on the skin and hair because it possesses mucilage, which is also found in marshmallow plants and other natural materials found in hair and skin products. It also contains allantoin, which aids in repairing skin cells. You can make a tea out of comfrey for rinsing your hair to ease dandruff and mend dry ends and damage. A homemade hair tea made from comfrey isn't difficult to make and can be used frequently if you suffer from scalp irritation.

Instructions

1. Stuff the 5-inch by 5-inch muslin pouch with the dried comfrey root. Stuff it into the pouch firmly, breaking the root into powder if necessary. Dried comfrey and muslin pouches can easily be found in natural supplement shops and online.

2. Twist the opening of the muslin pouch closed and tie it off with a rubber band.

3. Microwave 8 oz. of water in a bowl for four minutes. This gets it nearly boiling hot.

4. Drop the muslin pouch into the bowl of hot water and let it steep for 10 minutes. This also gives the water time to cool down.

5. Discard the pouch of used comfrey and pour the tea over your hair, saturating it and your scalp. Tuck your hair under a shower cap and let it sit on your head for 30 minute before rinsing. This helps mend your hair and any scalp irritation you may have.
