Make Your Own Titanium Necklace

Titanium jewelry promises relief of pain from injury as well as increased energy.

Wearing titanium necklaces and bracelets has become increasingly popular because of its claim to reduce the pain of injury, to increase and stabilize energy, and to provide relief of tension. Prominent sports figures have endorsed wearing titanium jewelry, making it more desirable than ever. Most titanium pieces worn by and recommended by athletes are made of a patented fabric-like material containing titanium that is only available through the licensee; however, jewelry supply vendors offer titanium materials in woven metals that can be used to fabricate titanium jewelry.

Instructions

1. Measure the desired length of the necklace with the tape measure. Purchase the tubular titanium material from a vendor of jewelry findings along with a leather cord about 2 inches longer than the metal tubing. In addition, buy a clasp for the necklace that can be attached by crimping an end cap over the leather cord.

2. Thread the leather cord through the tubular metal, trimming it to the exact length desired and allowing about 1/2-inch extra at either end of the cord for the attachment of the end caps. Depending on the depth of the end caps, 1/4-inch may be adequate.

3. Attach the end caps to the cord by crimping securely with the flat-nose pliers or jewelry pliers. Crimp the ends of the metal tubing if necessary to keep them from irritating the skin of the neck.
