Love potions have been an intriguing topic for generations, and while some claim to have found the secret combination of herbs that create genuine love between two people, such concoctions do not exist. But certain herbs and spices increase libido and the feeling of desire, and they're known as aphrodisiacs.
Horny Goat Weed
Besides a revealing name, horny goat weed contains properties that aid in combating erectile dysfunction in men and lower sexual desire in women. According to folklore, a Chinese goat herder noticed his flock engaging in unusual sexual contact, thus the name was born. Horny goat weed works by increasing levels of nitric oxide in the blood, which calms muscles and increases blood flow to the genitals.
To increase libido and lower sexual dysfunctions, consume horny goat weed in capsule or tablet form two to three times per day. Total daily dosage should be between 250 and 1000 milligrams, with the average being 500 milligrams. Take after meals or snacks in the morning, afternoon and evening with eight ounces of water.
Ginseng
Ginseng, which derives from the Chinese term "man root," is shaped like the human body and is commonly used for, among other things, its aphrodisiac qualities---though mostly in Asian cultures, as Western medicine has not fully embraced it to increase sexual libido in men and women.
In research trials, ginseng has been shown to increase sexual desire within animals, yet the studies have not shown the same results in humans.
Ginseng is available in capsule and tablet form and can be found at any vitamin or herb store and most supermarkets. Consume 200 milligrams of ginseng per day to benefit from its aphrodisiac qualities. For erectile dysfunction and loss of sexual desire, take every day until symptoms have improved.
L-Arginine
L-arginine is useful in relaxing blood vessels by producing nitric oxide in the blood. Since blood vessels are relaxed, they are able to perform tasks that otherwise would be hindered, such as having an erection, as blood is able to flow freely throughout the penis.
You must take up to 5 grams of L-arginine daily to benefit from its aphrodisiac qualities. Available in capsule form, you should consume it in the morning with eight-ounces of water. Allow at least a week for visible benefits to show.
