People have used cucumber for ages to soothe and help repair skin damage. It hydrates and softens skin, which is great on burns and wrinkles. With a short trip to the grocery store and a few minutes of work, you can make your own cucumber soap that's not only healthy and fresh, but inexpensive and quite possibly better than expensive designer products.
Instructions
1. Skin and juice a cucumber to get 1/4 cup of juice. Set it aside.
2. Heat but don't boil 1/3 cup water. Fill a metal strainer with green tea and put it in the water, or use two tea bags instead. Allow it to cool for about 1 hour. This makes a strong green tea tincture that adds to the skin care properties of your soap. Herbalists say green tea also helps prevent wrinkles by improving elasticity as well as protecting skin from sun damage.
3. While the green tea is cooling, add 1 to 2 tbsps. of honey to the tincture. Honey is also good for the skin and acts as a preservative. Stir the mixture gently, ensuring it dissolves.
4. Remove the tea bags or tea ball from the green tea mixture. Mix together the cucumber juice and tea in a glass kitchen measuring cup. These have handy spouts that enable you to easily pour off the mixture into a bottle.
5. Measure 3 tbsps. of aloe juice and put into the mix. Aloe juice also has excellent healing and hydrating properties, as well as cleansing and antiseptic properties. Add 2 tbsps. of castile soap or any other type of liquid body soap.
6. Pour into a bottle and shake well.
