Danger Of Cold Laser Pacemakers

Cold laser, or low-level laser therapy, is used for a variety of medical purposes to promote increased recovery from injuries and conditions, such as tennis elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome, according to Integrity Chiropractor.

History

Integrity Chiropractor reports cols laser therapy was introduced to the U.S. in 2002, but had been used in various other parts of the world, including Australia and Japan for more than 40 years prior to its U.S. introduction.

Pacemakers

According to Noel Chiropractor, the use of cold laser technology for patients with pacemakers and other embedded metals, such as prosthetics have not produced detrimental side effects. Internal metal objects have increased the absorption rate of cold laser therapy through reflection of the light emitted by the laser.

Treatment

Patients with pacemakers should consult a doctor before using cold laser therapy. Cold laser users, such as chiropractors often alter treatment times to ensure pacemaker users are safe during a treatment.
