There has been a lot of scientific evidence regarding the health benefits of omega 3 fatty acids. Mostly, we have been told to add fish oils to our diet, but few people know they can get omega 3 oils in a vegetarian form through flax seed oil.
Instructions
1. Check your cholesterol levels. If your LDL (bad) cholesterol is high and your HDL (good) cholesterol is low, you may benefit from increasing your omega 3 fatty acid consumption. Studies have shown cholesterol levels improved with continuous use of the addition of flax seed oil.
2. Notice any symptoms of high blood pressure such as headaches, blurred vision or dizziness. Get your blood pressure checked by a health care professional. However, if it is high, you could benefit from adding flax seed oil to your diet. Studies have shown increasing omega 3 fatty acids in your diet can lower blood pressure.
3. Use flax seed oil to fight arthritis. Studies have shown marked improvement of both rheumatoid and osteoarthritis symptoms of joint tenderness and morning stiffness when omega 3 fatty acids are increased in the diet.
4. Go for regular breast checkups. A diet rich in omega 3 fatty acids over a prolonged period of time has shown in laboratory and animal testing to improve chances of staving off breast cancer. It appears that this fatty acid inhibits breast cancer cells from forming.
5. Take flax seed oil to counter depression. Studies have shown that depression can be improved when a balance of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids are maintained. Further, it was found that many people suffering from depression had an imbalance of the two fatty acids.
