Apple cider vinegar has been a folk remedy since biblical times. In 400 B.C., Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, prescribed apple cider vinegar to his patients. Even today, it is touted as a cure for everything from bed wetting and warts to baldness and heart disease. In fact, apple cider vinegar is made from a mixture of fermented crushed apples. It is rich in acetic acid, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and amino acids, and these ingredients are responsible for its healing properties.
Instructions
1. To relieve the pain and sting of mild sunburn, fill a tub with lukewarm water. Add 2 cups of apple cider vinegar. Soak for about an hour. After bathing, dab a cotton ball soaked in undiluted apple cider vinegar over any areas of your body that are still burning, then swab with cooling aloe vera gel. Leave on overnight.
2. Relieve food poisoning with a mix of 2 tsp. of apple cider vinegar in 1 cup of lukewarm water. Repeat often throughout the day. The University of Maryland Medical Center recommends this traditional remedy for its possible antimicrobial effects, although it has not been scientifically studied.
3. Gargle with apple cider vinegar to heal a sore throat. Mix 1 tbsp. of the vinegar in 1/2 glass of cool water. Gargle for 1 or 2 minutes, and spit. Be sure not to swallow the mixture. Repeat 3 times an hour until your throat feels better, then repeat once every 3 hours until symptoms are completely gone.
4. Rid hair of dandruff with an apple cider vinegar treatment. Pour 2 tbsp. into a bowl. Dampen a cotton ball with water, then saturate it with the vinegar. Divide your hair into sections, and swipe the cotton ball over the scalp. Let sit for an hour, then shampoo and condition as normal.
5. Soften corns and calluses with apple cider vinegar. Pour 1/2 cup of the vinegar into a basin of warm water, and soak your feet for 30 minutes. After soaking, towel dry your feet, rubbing the afflicted areas briskly. Wrap corns and calluses with a gauze bandage soaked in undiluted apple cider vinegar. Leave on overnight, and apply a new vinegar-soaked bandage in the morning. Repeat the treatment until corns and calluses improve.

Costochondritis is basically a condition causing inflammation of the bones and cartilage of the chest wall, mainly in the area surrounding the sternum. The inflammation occurs at the cartilage connecting the rib bones to the sternum. Not all causes of costochondritis are known, but there are some key causes. One is from a car accident, where the individual's chest hits the steering wheel and the ribs and sternum are injured. A second cause is repeated overuse to the area in sports, such as in rowers. Sometimes an upper respiratory infection can cause costochondritis, especially from repetitive coughing during the illness. This article will explore methods for treating and dealing with costochondritis.
Instructions
Determine if You Have Costochondritis
1. If you have pain in the chest area, especially due to overuse in sports or a car accident, the first step is to get checked out by a doctor. If you were injured in a car accident, you may be taken to the hospital by ambulance. You will first want a doctor's examination to determine if you have costochondritis.
2. X-rays may be taken to first determine if you have a fractured rib bone or a sternal fracture. A sternal fracture can produce very similar pain to costochondritis, as the source of the pain is the area around the sternum. It might be that you have a broken rib and costochondritis.
3. After the x-rays, the doctor will ask questions to determine the cause of the pain you are experiencing in your chest. If you feel a sharp pain directly over the sternum or to the right or left of it, you may have costochondritis. You may never know for sure if costochondritis is to blame, since muscle injury could also cause similar pain. However, if you have swelling in addition to the pain in the sternal area, it is more likely to be costochondritis.
4. The doctor could decide to diagnose and treat for costochondritis without knowing for sure. However, for a specific diagnosis when the x-ray did not show a fracture would require a CT scan or MRI. Either of these could show a break or tear in a muscle which would might mean something else is to blame or could potentially show edema (swelling) in the sternum itself, indicating costochondritis.
5. Check yourself for indications. The first as already mentioned is pain localized in a certain area over the sternum that hurts immensely upon being touched. Other indications would include increased pain when taking a deep breath and more pain along the sternum when using muscles that connect to the sternum.
Treat Costochondritis
6. Rest. Costochondritis is caused either by overuse or by trauma, so the best thing to do is not to use the muscles and joints surrounding the sternum and to give them a chance to heal. Moving the least amount possible initially will help start the recovery process.
7. Ibuprofen or another anti-inflammatory medicine is imperative. You need to reduce the inflammation that is causing the condition and the pain. The doctor will most likely prescribe 800 mg 3 times per day initially, perhaps decreasing to 400 mg 2 to 3 times per day as the pain starts to subside.
8. Pain medication is often prescribed with costochondritis, especially if it is due to an injury. You may be given a narcotic pain reliever that includes acetaminophen. However, know that if you take pain medication, you may not be aware that you are irritating the area with certain exercises and movements.
9. Apply ice or heat to the sternal area, depending upon which feels better to you. Some may find that heat increases the pain, whereas others may find it beneficial. Ice can be very cold applied to the chest but can help with inflammation.
10. In general, the exercise that caused the costochondritis (if a sports injury) should be avoided, as well as any type of exercise that irritates the area. Experience has shown that ultrasound treatment over the upper sternum area helps to relax the joints and cartilage and allow for better healing.
11. Expect the pain of costochondritis to last for at least 1 to 2 months, sometimes as long as 6 months. After this, most of the pain should subside. However, if there are other associated injuries , such as a sternal fracture, bruised bones, bruised muscles and muscle strains, the overall pain could last up to a year or longer, especially if the injury was bad. Human Papillomavirus or HPV is a group of viruses that infect the skin in the form of warts and create lesions in the mucous membranes of the oral, anal and genital cavities. There are over 100 different known HPV types and at least 30 of them can be sexually transmitted, thus making the Genital Human Papillomavirus the most common sexually transmitted disease (STD). The different viruses were named using numbers according to the order that they were discovered. Generally though, the Human Papillomavirus is classified into two types: low-risk and high-risk.
Low-Risk HPV
The viruses that fall under the low-risk human papilloma virus are often referred to as "wart causing." These viruses cause a person to develop warts (including genital warts), but they do not develop into cancer. A person suffering from HPV often does not experience any other symptom than warts. These warts are small, hard, and easy to see with the human eye. They can also be itchy. Depending on the type of warts, they are often located on the hands, legs, face, feet, lips of the vagina, inside the vagina or around the anus.
High-Risk HPV
Viruses that fall under this category are referred to as "cancer causing" and are more likely to develop into cancer. Cancer of the cervix is the most common kind of cancer. Common warts are cauliflower-like warts that are slightly elevated from the skin and found on the hands, feet, elbows and knees. These are caused by HPV types 1, 2, 4, 26, 27, 29, 41 and 57. Flat warts are smaller and smoother than the other kinds of warts. They are itchy; they grow in clusters and are often found on children's faces. HPV types 3, 10, 27, 28, 41 and 49 cause this kind of wart. Detection
The body's immune system generally clears the HPV infection within two years 90 percent of the time. However, there is a new test available called the Digene HPV Test that informs you of the presence of any of the 13 high-risk types of HPV that may eventually lead to cancer. There are no treatments available for the virus itself. Normally, a healthy immune system is enough to defeat the human papillomavirus. Qi gong, or qi kong, is a form of martial art that includes Chinese gong fu. Tai Qi

The Five Elements
Both of the above forms offer exercises to strengthen the chi and its five elements, along with its yin and yang. The five elements of Chinese qi gong and chinese medicine are fire, a yang energy; earth, a neutral energy; gold, a yang energy; water, a yin energy; and wood, also a yin energy. Osteoporosis is an incurable disease that causes bones to become weak, fragile and easily broken or fractured. Identification

Also called bishop's hat, epimedium grandiflorum is a low-growing plant that bears waxy flowers shaped like a bishop's mitre. It is astonishingly tough, able to thrive in areas ranging from frigid to nearly tropical, though it does not tolerate desert conditions well.
Description
According to Sunset Magazine, epimedium grandiflorum is a deciduous plant that grows via underground stems and reaches about 1 foot in height. Its common names are longspur epimedium or bishop's hat.
Hardiness
Sunset indicates that epimedium grandiflorum is hardy in zones 2 to 9, 14 to 17, and 31 to 43, which means it will grow pretty much anywhere the temperature doesn't dip below -50 degrees Fahrenheit in winter. It does require regular water and it prefers at least some shade, so it won't do well in the desert zones of 10 through 13.
Leaves and Flowers
All members of the epimedium genus have thin, stiff stems that bear leaves and flowers. The flowers have four spurred or hooded petals and eight sepals--four inner and four outer--that surround the center of the flower. The grandiflorum species includes varieties with pink, violet and rose flowers. The leaves are 3 to 4 inches long and are brownish-pink in the spring, green in summertime, and bronze in the autumn.
Uses in the Garden
Gardeners use epimedium as a ground cover around and under other plants, because besides its low growth habit, it tolerates shade well. Sunset suggests planting it with azaleas, rhododendrons or camellias, or under trees. Epimedium grandiflorium also works well in containers or rock gardens.
Cultivation

Vitamin D can be found in high quantities in oily fish, such as salmon and tuna. Oily fish actually has a higher vitamin D content than dairy products.
Eggs
Eggs, when eaten whole, contain high amounts of vitamin D. The yolk contains the majority of the vitamin D in an egg.
Liver
Liver contains vitamin D in smaller quantities. Cooked beef liver can be difficult for some people to eat but is beneficial because it also contains other vitamins, such as vitamin B12.
Dairy Products
Dairy products can also contain vitamin D, but must be fortified. If you are relying on your dairy products to provide you with vitamin D, make sure that the dairy products state that they are fortified with vitamin D on the label.

Oftentimes, people who are perfectionists or who are particularly concerned with ideals such as organization and cleanliness are branded as being obsessive compulsive. However, these characteristics are not indicative of a true case of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Genuine obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is much more insidious than this and can often have a significantly adverse effect on a person's quality of life. If you suspect you might have OCD, you must learn to recognize the symptoms.

Recognize the Symptoms of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
1. Take note of the frequency of your recurring thoughts and the degree of anxiety they produce. If you're having the same repetitive thoughts five or more times a day without being able to control them and feel a significant amount of anxiety whenever these thoughts occur, this is a strong indicator of OCD.
2. Learn what constitutes a compulsion. In OCD, a large number of sufferers attempt to alleviate the anxiety produced by their obsessions by performing ritualistic physical actions. These actions are done with the thought of preventing whatever bad outcome is imagined in the obsession. If you perform these kinds of compulsive rituals, you could have OCD.
3. Notice how long you spend each day performing compulsive rituals. If you are spending an hour or more each day on your compulsions, you are likely to have genuine OCD.
4. Ask yourself whether your obsessions and compulsions are rational. Most people with true OCD realize their obsessions and compulsions are a product of their own minds and not rational at all. However, they don't feel able to stop them on their own.
5. Realize that if you are constantly trying to hide your compulsions from others and if you feel your quality of life is suffering, you could very well have OCD.
I don't suggest avoiding medical treatment however my little one never has an asthma attack when we are close to home, the doctor, or the hospital. These are a few tips that will help buy you time or bring them back down when they are worked up. This way you can continue with their normal treatments when you are able.

1. A quick favorite of my daughter is the cold coffee trick. She hates the taste but knows that it will do the trick quickly. Coffee contains high doses of caffeine and is a bronchial stimulator. It will open the throat and the coldness reduces swelling if they have been coughing up to that point.
2. Ice packs under the arm can help reduce the inflamed lungs and bring breathing back to a normal pace. Be sure not to apply them directly to the skin. Wrap the packs around under the arm and across the chest. My daughter hates this one but if they are really worked up this brings breathing down quickly.
3. Throwing up is normal. They cough and hack and can't get a breath. When you vomit it clears your throat of mucus. Don't try to stop them it will help and can buy you up to an hour to get them to the hospital. The only concern is making sure they are upright and tipped over so that they don't choke or aspirate. Aspirating vomit occurs when they inhale the substance and can cause pneumonia. I avoided this by teaching my daughter to spit like a boy before she tries to take a breath. Not only does spitting clear their mouth but my daughter loves the idea that even for a few minutes she can be a tom boy. To date she has most boys beat for how far they can spit.
4. Hot and moist can help. If you have a humidifier, crank it up to the highest setting in a small room with the child. Back before wonder drugs people would turn the hot shower on and put their kid in the bathroom as a treatment. This one is great for when you are on vacation. A sink running hot water with a towel over their head also works well. I have been there....you do what you can at a rest stop with 50 miles to the nearest town.
5. If you find yourself without an extended chamber for smaller kids and you need to get them to take their inhaler a bag or other small container can work as a quick fix. I once bought a plastic cup from a gas station and cut a hole only big enough for the inhaler on one end. The kiddie cups are the perfect size for this and fit over their mouths the best. The real chamber had rolled to the bad of the car under the seats but you don't have time to pull everything out when an attack is full blown. My daughter and her doctor liked the chamber so much I gave the original to the doctor and made her a new one. He keeps it for those first time education classes for parents for his short segment on get creative when it is needed. You can't get a chamber with random cartoons on it any where.
6. Most of all keep your head. If you freek out your kid will see it and know that all control is lost. This is the exact opposite and will escalate their attack.

Thyme is known not only as a culinary spice but also for its many medicinal purposes. Instructions
1. Brew a cup of thyme tea to help treat your bronchitis cough. Place 2 tbsp. of fresh thyme (it is OK to use dried, but only use 1 tbsp.) into a tea cup and add boiling water. Let this infuse for at least five minutes before straining the herbs. To make your thyme tea more palatable, try adding honey, lemon or ginger.
2. Keep your airways open by breathing in hot, steamy air infused with thyme. Boil 2 cups of water and put into a small, glass bowl. Add 1 tbsp. of thyme oil and, covering your head with a towel, lean over the bowl and slowly breathe in the steam through your nose. As thyme is an expectorant, it may release mucus that makes you cough temporarily but after a few minutes the thyme and steam together should relax the bronchial tubes, clear the airways and prevent further coughing.
3. Make homemade thyme cough syrup. Boil 2 cups of water and add 1 cup of dried thyme. Let the water cool and drain, discarding the thyme. Stir in 1 cup of honey and pour into a glass container, then store in the refrigerator. Shake thoroughly before each use and take 1 tbsp. approximately three times a day.
